WASHINGTON—APA’s publishing arm has entered an agreement with APA Division 15 (Educational Psychology) to launch a new journal, Educational Psychology for Policy and Practice (E3P). The journal will begin accepting submissions in January 2025 and publish its first volume in 2026.
“Educational psychology is a growing area of our portfolio at APA Journals, both in terms of impact and diversity of topics,” said Rose Sokol, PhD, APA publisher, journals and books. “We look forward to partnering with APA Division 15 to launch this new journal on educational psychology policy and practice, the applied psychology research space in urgent need of a dedicated publishing outlet.”
E3P will become APA’s 90th peer-reviewed journal, joining a diverse portfolio spanning the breadth and depth of psychology, many titles published on behalf of national and international societies and APA Divisions. It will join other APA Publishing educational psychology titles such as the Journal of Educational Psychology, APA Division 16’s School Psychology, and the Journal of Diversity in Higher Education, published on behalf of the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education.
Educational Psychology for Policy and Practice will be a peer-reviewed outlet for scholarship that employs educational psychology science to phenomena and issues of direct relevance to educational policy and practice, serving policymakers, administrators, educational practitioners, and the public. This will be the Division’s second journal, following the flagship Educational Psychologist.
“Members of APA Division 15 conducts research that is innovative and not only expands our conceptions of psychological and educational theory, it also advances thinking about how students learn and instructional approaches that empower students. Unfortunately, much of this high-quality work provokes thought but tends to remain within the parameters of the research community. The launch of Educational Psychology for Policy and Practice will provide a critically necessary medium to utilize educational psychology research insights to inform educational policy and practice in ways that will serve all communities, including those that have been historically underserved.” (Dionne Cross Francis, Division 15 President)
E3P's future editor(s), Dr. Sharon Nichols and Dr. Francesca López, are pleased to partner with APA: “We are looking forward to our partnership with APA to deepen the impact of educational psychology scholarship throughout our communities.”
