Neuropsychology invites the submission of systematic reviews that provide a time-limited (e.g., 3–5 years) update on a specific literature of relevance to the journal’s aims and scope.
Academics and clinicians commonly struggle to keep pace with rapidly expanding literatures that are critical to evidence-based science and practice (Hanson et al., 2024). This open call for contemporary reviews aims to provide a potentially valuable resource for the readership of Neuropsychology. Specifically, contemporary reviews will synthesize these rapidly emerging literatures in a rigorous but accessible manner that will be useful to researchers, clinicians, and teachers.
Neuropsychology’s contemporary reviews will follow rigorous methodological guidelines (see below). For example, these reviews will be required to have a clear rationale, transparent and comprehensive literature searches, detailed inclusion/exclusion criteria, duplicate screening and data coding, and evaluation of risk of bias. Authors will be encouraged to preregister their review, to consider including grey literature, and to provide a justification for meta-analysis versus narrative synthesis of results.
