Details
Qualitative Psychology(QP) is the official journal of the Society for Qualitative Inquiry in Psychology (a section of APA Division 5) and published by the American Psychological Association.
QP provides a forum for innovative methodological, theoretical, and empirical work that advances qualitative inquiry in psychology. The journal publishes articles that underscore the distinctive contributions that qualitative research can make to the advancement of psychological knowledge. Studies published in QP often focus on substantive topics, while also highlighting issues of epistemology, the philosophy of science, methodological criteria, or other matters bearing upon the formulation, execution, and interpretation of qualitative research.
The journal publishes studies that represent a wide variety of methodological approaches including narrative, discourse analysis, life history, phenomenology, ethnography, action research, and case study. It is further concerned with discussions of teaching qualitative research and training of qualitative researchers.
We welcome reviewers with expertise in any of these methodological approaches, teaching or training in qualitative research, and/or core issues in qualitative methods.

Eligibility
The editorial team considers the following when selecting reviewers:
- Reviewers should have publishing experience, as authors and/or reviewers for peer-reviewed journals. Publishing experience provides a reviewer with the basis for preparing a thorough, objective review; but reviewers with limited experience are still encouraged to apply and can seek training on preparing high-quality reviews. If you are newer to peer review, visit the APA Reviewer Resource Center.
- Reviewers should be readers of QP and/or related journals and qualitative methods. Current knowledge of recently published articles provides a reviewer with the knowledge base to evaluate a new submission within the context of existing research.
- In addition to being knowledgeable of the field, reviewers should be capable of evaluating qualitative research in an equitable fashion. This includes awareness of individual and group biases and the impacts of historical and systemic limitations on full participation in psychological science in order to support the publication of manuscripts with a range of methodologies and types of evidence that serve multiple communities.
- Reviewing a manuscript takes time (1–4 hours per manuscript reviewed). If you are selected to review, please be prepared to invest the necessary time to evaluate the manuscript thoroughly.
- If you are invited to serve as a reviewer, you will be asked to complete a profile identifying your areas of expertise in the journal’s manuscript submission portal. This will help the editorial team match you with papers that best fit your interests and expertise.
If you are interested in reviewing for QP please complete the reviewer interest form or submit your CV to the editor for the editorial board’s consideration.
Reviewers are encouraged to read QP’s Guidelines for reviewing manuscripts.
