Psychological Services, the official journal of APA Division 18 (Psychologists in Public Service), welcomes submissions on psychological services delivered in organized care settings such as jails, prisons, courts, Indian Health Service, the military, Department of Veterans Affairs, public university clinics, training hospitals, state and community mental health hospitals, and other public service settings.

We encourage submissions focused on:

  • broad issues related to psychotherapy outcomes, evaluations of psychological service programs and systems, and public policy analyses;
  • broader public health issues where both community-based prevention and clinically-based interventions are used to target health and social disparities in order to bring about population-level change (e.g., homelessness, suicide, healthcare access, medical diagnoses);
  • evaluations of community-based strategies to address public health concerns (e.g., community partnership efforts, system-wide disease prevention strategies, health communication campaigns);
  • the use of implementation science principles to advance rollouts of system-wide policies, programs, and change initiatives;
  • evaluations of methods for improving work environments for public sector employees (e.g., wellness programs; mentoring and leadership development programs; strategies to enhance workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion programs to address employee engagement, civility, and psychological safety; efforts to create and enhance high-functioning teams); and
  • education and training in the public sector.

More information about the journal is available on the Psychological Services homepage.

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically through our submission portal.
