APA's PsycNet® platform supports SFX and other OpenURL-based linking technologies.

APA PsycInfo®

APA PsycInfo® functions as a "source." To link from APA PsycInfo to your SFX server, simply specify the address for your SFX/OpenURL server on the Full-text optionsopens in new window tab in the APA PsycNet Admin Center.

APA PsycInfo search results will then display an icon linking to your OpenURL server for each item in the hit list.

APA PsycArticles®

APA PsycArticles® functions as a "target." Linking from a third-party database to APA PsycArticles is possible. If that database provider determines that a record represents a APA PsycArticles document, it could formulate the URL to link to APA PsycArticles.

In this case, it should use the following URL format:

https://content.apa.org/journals/[issn]/[volume]/[issue]/[firstpage]
e.g., https://content.apa.org/journals/0003-066X/59/5/325

Any of the following will work:

For example,

  • https://content.apa.org/journals/0022-3514/86
  • https://content.apa.org/journals/0022-3514/86/6
  • https://content.apa.org/journals/0022-3514/86/6/796

Also note that if you are coming through a proxy server, the base URL will need to be "psycnet.apa.org" instead of "content.apa.org."
