Infographic: Picture word task

The Stroop test has spawned many offshoots. In this picture-word Stroop task used by Julie Bugg, PhD, participants are instructed to name the picture and ignore the word.

The first picture is of a cat with the word cat on it (congruent). The second is a drawing of a bird with the word dog on it (incongruent). The third is a line drawing of a dog with the word bird on it (incongruent). The fourth is a line drawing of a fish with the word fish on it (congruent).
