This activity continues to provide a significant opportunity for CPTA to proactively address the issues outlined in the APA Racism Resolution related to the past testing related harms. One of the primary areas identified for revision by the Standards Management Committee is fuller coverage of social justice issues and discussion of the ramifications of consequential validity. Additionally, these activities support the following APA Strategic Goals:
Utilize psychology to make a positive impact on critical societal issues.
Prepare the discipline and profession of psychology for the future.
Elevate the public’s understanding of, regard for, and use of psychology.
Strengthen APA’s standing as an authoritative voice for psychology.
Members of CPTA continued participation in several educational and informational activities to include:
Convening a CPTA-sponsored Working Group on Neuropsychological Assessment of Diverse Populations, an offshoot of the Presidential Task Force on Neuropsychological Test Norming in Diverse Populations. Activities will include development of a public-facing document detailing best practices for neuropsychological assessment of diverse populations.
Development of a concisely presented, comprehensive informational document that delves into the ethical and practical considerations for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in assessment across domains (e.g., clinical, I/O, school) and situations (e.g., employment testing, clinical evaluations).
These activities support the following APA Strategic Goals:
Utilize psychology to make a positive impact on critical societal issues.
Prepare the discipline and profession of psychology for the future.
Elevate the public’s understanding of, regard for, and use of psychology.
Strengthen APA’s standing as an authoritative voice for psychology.
As a member group, CPTA continued participation in the activities of:
The Coalition for Psychology in Schools and Education (CPSE).
The International Test Commission (ITC).
The Joint Committee on Standards for Educational Evaluation (JCSEE), which continued the revision of two JCSEE publications, the Personnel Evaluation Standards (in Education) and the Program Evaluation Standards.
These activities support the following APA Strategic Goals:
Utilize psychology to make a positive impact on critical societal issues.
Prepare the discipline and profession of psychology for the future.
Elevate the public’s understanding of, regard for, and use of psychology.
