APA offers several membership options. PhD-level psychologists can become members of APA. Master's degree holders can become associates of APA, and a number of affiliate programs welcome students, high school and community college teachers and international psychologists.

Member — doctoral degree in psychology or related field.
Associate — master's degree in psychology or related field.
International affiliate — psychologist who live outside the United States and Canada.
High school student affiliate —high school students interested in a career in psychology.
Undergraduate student affiliate or graduate student member — enrolled undergraduate/graduate students taking psychology courses.
High school teacher affiliate — teachers of high school psychology classes.;
Community college teacher affiliate — teachers of community college psychology classes.
Life Status – APA member for 25 years or longer and over the age of 64.
