About APA

Monica Kurylo, PhD, ABPP, was awarded a Presidential Citation for her effective and collaborative leadership as chair of the Committee for the Advancement of Professional Practice (CAPP).

Kurylo brought her warm, gentle and inclusive manner to leadership of CAPP during its transition to a sharp and laser-like focus on the 501c (6) activities that the practice community relies on from CAPP and the American Psychological Association Practice Organization (APAPO). Her sense of humor, generous spirit and commitment to action were essential for success as she worked with the members of CAPP, Board of Professional Affairs, the APAPO Board of Directors, and the Council of Representatives to provide a smooth transition. Kurylo, who is Board certified in rehabilitation psychology, is director of Neurorehabilitation Psychology Services at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Her clinical work emphasizes neuropsychological evaluation and treatment, interdisciplinary treatment in rehabilitation, burn and trauma, and supervision for pre-doctoral practicum graduate students, doctoral interns and postdoctoral fellows in psychology. Her research interests include health disparities in concussion and stress among professional and family caregivers.
