Thank you for your interest in inspiring the next generation of psychology professionals! By hosting this event, you are helping students explore the vast possibilities within psychology by personally connecting them with psychology professionals in the community who will share their educational and professional journeys.

Event hosts are encouraged to apply to receive a $300 gift card to assist in providing refreshments and/or materials and handouts for your event. Because funding is limited, funds will be allocated based on the following eligibility criteria and priorities.

Eligibility criteria*

  • Host must be a high school teacher, community college educator, or a psychology professional with a doctorate or master’s degree in psychology.
  • Events may be held at a high school or community college campus in the U.S. If preferred, the event may be held at a U.S. 4-year college or university; however, the majority intended audience needs to be high school and/or community college students. (Note: We support our international colleagues and their efforts to educate future generations of psychologists and encourage the use of the playbook and resources; however, funding for this initiative is limited to U.S.-based schools.)
  • Speakers must include at least two psychology professionals (with a master’s or doctoral degree in psychology) from different subfields of psychology (see APA’s 54 Divisions as examples of breadth within the discipline). One of the speakers must have a doctoral degree in psychology.
  • Speakers may also include graduate students currently enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program in psychology.
  • Speakers must attend the event in person. In the rare occasion that a preferred speaker is only available virtually, that speaker may participate by videoconference, as long as other speakers and the audience are in person and the host is able to provide the technology needed for a speaker to virtually interact with the audience.

Funding priorities

  • Events that are likely to include student participants with identities that are historically underrepresented in psychology.
  • Events that include a team of professional speakers that represent a range of educational fields and vocations.
  • Events that will be held in geographic locations that have not yet been awarded funding will be given priority consideration.
  • Applications will be considered on a rolling basis throughout 2025 until all funds are allocated.
