Whether an Ohio statute which prohibited a physician from performing an abortion upon a minor unless notice was provided to one of the minor's parents was unconstitutional
Abortion (parental notification)
This case was a companion case to Hodgson v. State of Minnesota, 853 F.2d 1452 (1988). APA filed a joint brief for both cases.
See Hodgson v. State of Minnesota.
The U.S. Supreme Court struck down the two-parent notification requirement. The majority cited the APA brief for the propositions that one-parent families are common and state law often allows a minor parent to consent to health care for her child.
