Our work is multipronged, strategic, collaborative, and inclusive. Our areas of focus are:
- Promotion and advancement of psychological science
- Application of psychological science and services to enhance human potential, performance, health, and well-being

Our purpose
We aim to build a strong, inclusive community among the diverse scientists, educators, and practitioners who identify with psychology as a discipline and as a profession. Through this unity, we seek to enhance knowledge, advocate for, and amplify our collective impact, and improve the human condition.
Consistent with APA’s strategic plan, we strive to foster and promote:
- Public awareness and understanding of psychology, its value to society, and the diverse roles psychologists hold—and the value they bring to improving lives
- The production and advancement of high-quality psychological science
- The application of psychological science and interventions to benefit society and improve lives, with the goal of achieving the greatest possible impact
- The capacity of licensed health service psychologists and psychology professionals to provide competent services efficiently, effectively, and equitably as science-based behavioral health leaders within the larger health care arena
- The preparation of psychologists and psychology professionals to have impact in diverse careers in an ever-changing marketplace through high-quality psychology education, ongoing professional development, and resources
