The American Psychological Association (APA) Board of Educational Affairs (BEA) invites nominations for the next BEA Task Force on Psychology Major Competencies.

About

The BEA Task Force on Psychology Major Competencies is charged with facilitating the revision of the APA Guidelines for the Undergraduate Psychology Major: Version 2.0 (APA, 2013) and coordinating its dissemination and implementation. The guidelines, available on the APA website, identifies a set of learning goals and outcomes for student performance at the completion of the baccalaureate degree. As is the case for other standards and guidelines, Association Rule 30-8.3 requires that the guidelines be updated within a period not to exceed 10 years. The current Guidelines expires in August 2023.

Qualifications

The task force will be composed of members representing the range of institutional settings and perspectives. Self-nominations are welcome. Nominees to the Task Force should be familiar with the APA Guidelines for the Undergraduate Psychology Major: Version 2.0, and be available to meet in Washington, D.C. at least once in 2020 and/or 2021. Nominees must be members or affiliates of APA.

Nominations must be submitted with a supporting statement (500 words or fewer) of qualifications, a current curriculum vita or resume and a copy of the matrix (PDF, 75KB)opens in new window filled out to identify nominees’ subject matter expertise and any characteristics of diversity.

Nominations and supporting materials should be emailed to Martha Boenau, associate director, Precollege and Undergraduate Education, by Aug. 31, 2019. The APA Committee on Associate and Baccalaureate Education will prepare a slate of nominees for appointment by BEA in October 2019.
