At the beginning of the 2021-22 school year, APA published two modules for teachers on resilience as students returned to classes after an interrupted school year with the COVID-19 pandemic. One module was for teachers and counselors in grades 4-8 and a second module was for high school teachers (especially psychology and health teachers and advisory period teachers). The modules encouraged students to consider how stress may manifest in the body, understand how stress impacts our actions, and understand how our beliefs, thoughts, and mindset can impact our experience of stress. Relaxation techniques, strategies for practicing positive self-talk, and other resilience-building strategies and resources were provided.
Both modules are available online here. Teachers are encouraged to modify these modules for their current classrooms as needed, since both were published a year ago. A summary of these modules is available online here.
