Psi Alpha, the International Honor Society for High School Psychology, continues to expand, recently surpassing 100 chapters and over 4,500 members. Additionally, Psi Alpha is present in five countries, including Malaysia, Vietnam, Germany, and Peru. After officially achieving 501(c)3 status in 2023, Psi Alpha continues to expand its scholarship programs and create research, service, and leadership project opportunities for high school students in the service of advancing its mission to support the knowledge and understanding of psychology as a science.
Most recently, Psi Alpha, in partnership with the Fordham Institute and the American Psychological Foundation, created a series of educational videosopens in new window detailing the benefits of high school research and sharing ideas for high school students who are searching for a research mentor. In this video series, students can access information about Psi Alpha, methods of integrating research into a high school psychology course, and so much more. Psi Alpha is looking forward to presenting additional opportunities for its members to engage in high school research in the coming months and aiding high school researchers in their search for effective mentors to guide the high school research experience.

Kristen Mitzel is the current director of operations for Psi Alpha. She is a recent graduate of Wright State University, earning a Master of Science in clinical mental health counseling and a Master of Education in school counseling. Her research interests include trauma informed care for youth and animal assisted therapy. She has a therapy dog named Eli, who she is currently integrating in programming with her students. She also enjoys working with indoor percussion and color guard ensembles in the Dayton, Ohio area, where she currently resides.
