“Top 20" Principles from Psychology for Pre-K to 12 Teaching and Learning Report
CPSE Coalition members identified a list of 20 top principles from psychology that support effective teaching and learning in Pre-K through 12 classrooms. These principles are organized into five categories (thinking and learning, motivation, social and emotional development, classroom management and assessing student progress) and were cross referenced with other publications and manuals dealing with the knowledge and skill base for teacher education. The document is used as a means to advocate with state certification programs, as well as for designing new psychology rich teacher education programs (both traditional and alternative) and revising current ones. The “Top 20” report is being distributed and circulating within the PreK-12 schools, teachers and policy communities. More information is available through the CPSE website.
