The International Summit on Psychology and Global Health: A Leader in Climate Action

In November of 2019, the Inaugural International Summit on Psychology and Global Health: A Leader in Climate Action brought high level leaders from more than 40 countries across continents to Lisbon, Portugal. This summit, co-convened by APA and the Ordem dos Psicologos Psicólogos (OPP), was the first of its kind for the field, resulting in a signed Proclamation and Resolution as well as individual association commitments to take action on climate change. This event laid the groundwork for the formation of the Global Psychology Alliance (GPA), which has since collaborated on numerous key global challenges, including impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since its founding, the GPA has welcomed more than 30 new member associations, bringing the total to more than 70 national, regional, and international psychological association around the world.
