Shane Blackman, PhD, is a manager of project management at Capitol One. He received his joint PhD in social psychology and social policy at Princeton University in collaboration with Princeton’s Department of Psychology and the Woodrow Wilson School of Public & International Affairs. His previous graduate school research in bias and attitude change have led him to pursue opportunities to scale his impact through leveraging psychology to influence positive behavioral and social change.
Host: Eddy Ameen, PhD, serves as the associate executive director for Early Career and Graduate Student Affairs at APA. In this role, he oversees the offices on ECPs and APAGS, providing resources and advocacy for over one-third of APA’s membership base. He graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Boston College with a master’s in mental health counseling and University of Miami with a PhD in counseling psychology. Outside of APA, he is the board chair of StandUp For Kids, a national homeless youth organization, and he also conducts pro bono psychological evaluations for immigrants seeking asylum.
