Using apps in clinical practice: Practical aspects

This presentation provides practical considerations for using phone apps. It introduces a competency-based framework for including phone apps in clinical practice and provides specific and practical ways in which phone apps can be used in practice.
A single topic illustrates how phone apps can be used in working with a particular population. For purposes of this demonstration, that focus is on the inclusion of apps in the treatment of individuals across the spectrum of emotional distress, from stress reduction and relaxation to post-traumatic stress.
This interdivisional APA webinar is led by APA Div. 18 (Psychologists in Public Service) and supported by nine other APA divisions. It is the second apps webinar co-sponsored by the Coalition for Technology in Behavioral Science (CTiBS).

Greg Reger, PhD, is the deputy associate chief of staff for Mental Health at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System and associate professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine. His research focus is on the development and evaluation of innovative technologies to support service member and veteran psychological health.
