The task force is finalizing its recommendations to APA and will issue a final report in the coming months. In a draft report issued in June, the task force recommended that the association:

  • Expand the use of podcasts.
  • Create special topical issues of APA journals.
  • Optimize APA Web content for search.
  • Continue and possibly expand APA's amicus briefs program.
  • Require APA journal authors to submit a translational abstract or significance statement.
  • Produce Magination Press books on psychological science.
  • Produce a briefing paper for journalists on how to report on quality psychological science.
  • Increase the number of press releases issued from APA journals.
  • Produce a Web-based seminar on improving skills for communicating psychological science to the public.
  • Create an advisory group to advise teachers on intro to psychology courses.
  • Create an APA award for best student journalism in psychological science.
  • Produce a special issue of Policy Insights on Behavioral and Brain Science.
  • Conduct an annual survey on behavioral science literacy.
  • Purchase advertising on social media platforms based on keyword searches.
  • Redesign the APA.org homepage to increase its utility as a public education tool.
