Clay, R. A. (2019, February 1). Supporting LGBTQ activism in other countries. Monitor on Psychology, 50(2). https://www.apa.org/monitor/2019/02/homosexuality-sidebar

Seventy-one countries and territories still criminalize same-sex behavior, with homosexual acts punishable by death in eight of them. The hope is that the decision in the world’s second-most-populous country could provide momentum for the movement globally, says Ron Schlittler, program coordinator for APA’s Office on Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity.

APA and the International Psychology Network for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex Issues are happy to help provide the scientific evidence to support LGBTQ activism in other countries, adds Schlittler. “If others are considering a similar action, please touch base with us so we can work with you to help ensure that you are using the best and most current resources available.” —Rebecca A.
