Estimated global number of people living with a mental health disorder at any given time—nearly one-eighth of the world’s population. Anxiety and depression are highly prevalent in all countries and communities, affecting people of all ages and income levels.

The indirect costs of anxiety and depression worldwide, mainly because of lost productivity. Meanwhile, the median percentage of total health care budgets spent on mental health is just 2%, with high-income countries spending much more per person on mental health than low-income countries.

Global median number of mental health workers per person. In low-income countries, less than 10% of affected individuals receive care, compared with more than half of those in higher-income nations.
