Marie Lucia Miville, PhD Marie Lucia Miville is an associate professor of psychology and education in the Counseling Psychology Program of Counseling and Clinical Psychology at Columbia University. Miville hails from Oklahoma State University, where she was previously director of training and associate professor in the Counseling Psychology Program. While a master's and doctoral student in counseling psychology at the University of Maryland at College Park, Miville was a research assistant in the Testing, Research and Data Processing Unit and a teaching assistant in developmental psychology. 

Her current research interests focus on identifying needs and perceptions of international students; attitudes toward gay and lesbian students, Arab-Americans and students with disabilities; and racial and gender differences in college retention. Additionally, Miville has 50 publications dealing with multicultural issues in counseling and psychology. She is editor of the Around the Winter Roundtable Forum in The Counseling Psychologist and is currently serving on several editorial boards, including Journal of Counseling Psychology, Journal of Latina/o Psychology, Cultural Diversity and Ethnic Minority Psychology, and Training and Education in Professional Psychology. 

Previously in her career, she has been the chair of the Council of Counseling Psychology Training Programs (CCPTP) and was co-chair of the joint Div. 17/CCPTP Special Task Group that developed the integrative training model (a competency-based model integrating multiple aspects of diversity). Miville also helped to develop the Counseling Psychology Model Training Values Statement Addressing Diversityopens in new window and was among a group of authors who won the 2009 Major Contribution Award for a series of articles about the statement published in The Counseling Psychologist. Furthermore, Miville is a historian of the National Latina/o Psychology Association and a fellow of the American Psychological Association (Div. 17, Society of Counseling Psychology and Div. 45, Society for the Psychological Study of Culture, Ethnicity and Race); adding to her legacy as psychologist.
