There is growing interest in the use of patient-centered outcomes in medical/surgical care and for measuring health care performance.
Patient-centered outcome measures complement traditional clinical outcomes of morbidity and mortality, capturing the patient's perspective regarding their health and its treatment. For example, does a patient's perception of pain and mobility actually improve after their knee replacement? Such outcomes may be more important to patients and caregivers than many clinical outcomes, and they may serve as a basis for truly patient-centered care.
This special issue highlights 11 articles that address different aspects of such work.
