The journal is announcing a call for papers that focuses on the following topics related to hate crimes and domestic terrorism in rural areas:
- the epidemiology of hate crimes and domestic terrorism in rural areas;
- characteristics of rural areas in which hate crimes and incidents of domestic terrorism are more prevalent;
- characteristics of rural persons who are more likely to perpetrate hate crimes or incidents of domestic terrorism;
- programs that can avert rural hate crimes and prevent rural individuals from joining hate groups or domestic terrorist organizations;
- the mental health needs of rural persons who engage in hate crimes or incidents of domestic terrorism;
- the mental health needs of rural persons victimized by hate crimes and incidents of domestic terrorism;
- programs that can help rural victims of hate crimes and/or domestic terrorism; and
- how has social media fueled hate crimes and domestic terrorism in rural areas.
Submissions may use several formats, including brief and full-length reports of original research, theoretical or review articles, program descriptions, and letters to the editor.
Submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed by experts in the field. Rapid peer review and prompt editorial decisions will ensure that quality manuscripts are published in a timely manner and disseminated widely to inform additional research and policy making on these crucial issues.
Through print and electronic access, articles published in the Journal of Rural Mental Health are now available in more than 4,000 institutions.
