The Journal of Threat Assessment and Management® is an international periodical for professionals and scholars whose work focuses on operational aspects of the assessment and management of risk for interpersonal violence.

The journal is unique in three ways.

First it is devoted exclusively to the subject of violence risk and strategies, responses, and interventions to manage and prevent violence in the full range of interpersonal, operational, environmental, and situational contexts.

Second, it is applied in nature, dealing with the development, implementation, and evaluation of procedures and practices for assessing and managing the risk of interpersonal violence.

Third, it reflects and promotes the values of interdisciplinarity and internationalism, based on the view that preventing violence requires collaborations that cross professional, organizational, and, in many cases, jurisdictional boundaries.

Those who read and write for Journal of Threat Assessment and Management work in a wide range of organizational and operational settings, including mental health, medical care, criminal justice, national security, private security, educational, and a wide variety of business settings. They have backgrounds in fields such as policing, criminology, security, investigations, human resources, law, psychology, psychiatry, nursing, social work, corrections, and victim advocacy. What binds these readers and authors together is their focus on understanding the pathways of violence in different contexts and environments by using empirically and evidence-based assessments to facilitate the designing and implementing of responses and interventions to stop future violence and support victims.
