Training and Education in Professional Psychology (TEPP) seeks to promote empirical reporting on issues facing the supervision and training of practitioners in doctoral, internship, and post-doctoral programs in health service psychology. To this end the editor of TEPP, Dr. Jennifer Callahan, PhD, has worked with Texas NABORSopens in new window to develop an interactive data visualization tool. This tool collects relevant data from a number of sources and reports (including APA’s own annual accreditation reportopens in new window) and presents this data in a series of dashboards which allow for quick comparison and analysis.

View the dashboards.opens in new window

These dashboards display statistics focusing on:

  • Doctoral Psychology Training Nationwide
  • Postdoctoral Psychology Training Nationwide
  • Behavioral Health Workforce Projections
  • Demographics for Awarded Bachelor’s Degrees in Doctoral Programs
  • Minority Serving Institutions Nationwide
  • Disadvantaged Communities and Population Demographics Nationwide

We hope that prospective authors will find this tool useful and will be able to utilize this data to produce insightful, empirically focused writing.

Authors are invited to submit empirically-focused brief reports based on this data to TEPP’s manuscript submission portal using the standard Brief Report article type. Brief reports should be no longer than 15 pages (including title page, abstract, manuscript, references, and tables/figures), double-spaced, and generally adhere to the journal’s submission guidelines.

Authors are welcome to either use the data and figures as presented in the dashboards or download the data directly to perform their own analysis and generate their own figures. Although not required, authors are encouraged to preregister their study via the Open Science Frameworkopens in new window. This will be a continuous call for papers with no set deadline or end date.

Please feel free to contact Dr. Callahan if you have any questions regarding this call for papers or the data visualization tool.
