This special issue is divided into two sections: military and mass trauma.

Trauma in military personnel raises a number of important questions. How can we lower the risk of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) for personnel in combat? How does combat exposure, with or without PTSD, affect soldiers once they have returned to civilian life? How can best treat them?

Mass traumas also raise important questions. What is the aftermath of incidents, such as school shootings? What type of care helps prevent PTSD? What happens when people fleeing mass traumas become refugees? How can we best meet their needs?
