APA's Board of Educational Affairs, with support from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation, convened some of psychology's top experts in teacher education, measurement and policy to shape the recommendations. Task force members, many of whom began the work holding opposing viewpoints on evaluating teacher preparation, found consensus in "a highly charged environment around accountability and self-improvement," says Rena Subotnik, PhD, director of APA's Center for Psychology in the Schools and Education and the lead staff representative to the task force.
The task force members are:
- Frank C. Worrell, PhD, University of California, Berkeley (chair).
- Mary Brabeck, PhD, New York University.
- Carol Dwyer, PhD, formerly of the Educational Testing Service.
- Kurt F. Geisinger, PhD, the Buros Center for Testing at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
- Ronald Marx, PhD, University of Arizona.
- George Noell, PhD, Louisiana State University.
- Robert Pianta, PhD, University of Virginia.
- Rena Subotnik, PhD, APA.
