In 2023 (Figure 1), a greater proportion of early career psychologists (about 73%) treated patients with a mix of remote and in-person services than did later career psychologists (about 63%). In comparison, a greater proportion of later career psychologists (about 26%) treated patients with fully remote services than did early career psychologists (about 18%). Most psychologists (77%) indicated wanting to continue their use of telehealth at its current level, including 78% of fully remote psychologists and 92% of partially remote psychologists.

In 2020 (Figure 2), during the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, 97% of psychologists incorporated telehealth into their practice, with 64% working entirely remotely at that time. By 2023, 89% of psychologists used telehealth, with 67% working in hybrid practice. These findings suggest telehealth, especially as part of hybrid practice, is here to stay.
