Before reviewing

  • Reach out to the journal’s editor or editorial staff, such as the journal’s peer review coordinator, to confirm that the journal allows co-reviewing.
  • Note that there should be only two co-reviewers per article to help maintain confidentiality.
  • Note if either co-reviewer has a potential conflict of interest.

During the review

Recognition

  • Provide both the name of the senior reviewer as well as the junior co-reviewer to the journal so that both individuals can receive recognition for their review—APA journals publish the names of student co-reviewers at the end of the year.
  • Add your review experience to your CV.
