Important notice: Calendars being updated

The APA TOPSS Committee invites teachers to submit course pacing calendars aligned with the current (2022) National Standards for High School Psychology for consideration to post to this page. We expect to have new calendars available by mid-2025.

If you are interested in submitting a sample pacing calendar for on-level, AP, IB, or Cambridge AICE, please send your calendar to TOPSS. Our goal is to gather samples that reflect different types of course scheduling (e.g., traditional, block schedule, and trimester; one semester and full year). Calendars must show alignment to the current National Standards. Teachers are encouraged to indicate how research methods are integrated across all units in the course. We will continue to post calendars to this webpage as they are received and reviewed by TOPSS.

Sample academic calendars

New high school psychology teachers often ask how to design pacing calendars for their psychology classes. Courses can vary in many ways:

  • Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Cambridge AICE, and on-level classes.
  • Full year or one semester
  • Block, regular, or trimester schedule

These sample pacing calendars provide examples of actual calendars from other psychology teachers. APA does not endorse these calendars, but provides them here as examples for teachers to view and consider. As noted above, we will continue to post calendars as they are received and reviewed by TOPSS.
