Assessment and Treatment of Pediatric Anxiety Disorders and OCD
Practice, Research & Resources With McLean Hospital
May 2023
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, symptoms in patients with anxiety and obsessive-compulsive diagnoses had been on the rise—but during the pandemic, the prevalence of anxiety and OCD-related disorders skyrocketed. The alarming increase in the incidence of these disorders has placed more demands on clinicians and physicians and caused more children, adolescents, and families to suffer.
Although many pediatricians and family practices have made strides in introducing mental health-related questions in patient and family visits, the onus for treating anxiety and OCD disorders is on the clinician—whose capacity to assess, differentiate, and treat children and adolescents while supporting family systems is more essential than ever.
This free presentation explores ways in which clinicians can continue to meet the increasing needs of patients and families suffering from anxiety and OCD and discusses effective treatment modalities that can be practiced at all levels of care.
