The COVID-19 pandemic has created especially challenging and stressful circumstances for frontline and essential workers across the world. In an effort to support these individuals with their pandemic-related stressors at work, the Global Psychology Alliance (GPA) created a problem-solving poster grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to be placed in break-rooms and common areas where workers will see them. The goal of this document is to provide a simple and engaging step-by-step approach to identifying stressors, thinking through possible solutions, and taking actions that may be helpful. The GPA also hopes this resource will highlight the undue burden and stress placed on essential workers during this time, normalize the related mental health impacts that they may be dealing with as a result, show support for individuals who are unable to access care, and offer a simple, science-based technique to help them sort through challenges.
The GPA is currently comprised of 65 national, regional, and international psychological associations from every region of the world, dedicated to actively addressing global issues and enhancing human well-being using psychological science. This document was a collaborative effort and has been translated into languages including Portuguese, French, Indonesian, and Ukrainian, among others.
