I Am Psyched! Museum Day Live 2016! debuted March 2016 at APA headquarters. With the Council on Women and Girls at the White House and the Smithsonian Affiliates, the Women's Programs Office worked with the Drs. Nicholas and Dorothy Cummings Center for the History of Psychology at the University of Akron and Psychology's Feminist Voices Oral History and Digital Archive Project to host this interactive pop-up exhibit, which seeks to empower young women and girls of color to explore careers in the social and behavioral sciences by showcasing the rich contributions of women of color.
More than 70 Washington, D.C. metropolitan area girls attended the March 12, 2016 event, which included a curated exhibit, a live-streamed interaction discussion, and empowering skills-building activities for young women and girls.
- The planning team has received a Society for the Teaching of Psychology Partnerships small grant to design online curriculum material for use in high school introductory, AP, and IB psychology courses, incorporating the contributions of women of color psychologists.
- In October 2016, the Women's Programs Office began planning for the 2017 I am Psyched National Tour with a first stop at Howard University in February 2017. For information on scheduling a stop on the tour, please contact Anastasiya Tsoy in the Women's Programs Office.
