Overview

This concise volume provides an overview of the roles mental health professionals can play in integrated primary care. Anne C. Dobmeyer describes the key components of integrated primary care (with special emphasis on the primary care behavioral health model of service delivery), presents the rationale for a behavioral health presence on the team, and offers effective work-flow strategies.

Guided by competencies developed by APA and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, clinicians learn to use standard resources to work within a larger team to effectively treat a wide range of chronic medical conditions, behavioral health disorders, and unhealthy lifestyle behaviors.

The Clinical Health Psychology Series is designed to provide a comprehensive but concise overview of practice in specific areas, including integrated primary care, cardiology, oncology, and more. Each book in the series provides broad coverage of the topic and is intended specifically for mental and behavioral health professionals who are new to that field.
