The Global Psychology Alliance (GPA), a community of leaders from more than 70 national, regional, and international psychological associations around the world, advocates for an ethical and impactful approach to supporting communities in need during emergencies. The GPA has revised the original statement developed by the American Psychological Association in 2008 and created a brief tip-sheet, both of which have been translated into more than 10 languages.

Psychologists play a critical role in international emergencies, and the GPA strongly encourages a culturally-informed approach that carefully considers the wellbeing of the communities in need and the wellbeing of the helpers.
